This Saturday 1st February is Imbolc, the Celtic Festival that marks the first inklings of Spring. We’re now nearly half way towards the Spring Equinox, when the days become longer than the nights.
Ever since I discovered the Celtic Calendar I’ve loved this obscure winter festival. It marks the time to start coming out of winter hibernation and turn our face towards the light.
It’s an excellent time to set intentions for the year to come. Personally I feel doing this at New Year can be premature – I”m still in dreamy, fireside mode, but by early February my energy is starting to stir and ideas for new directions are forming.
It’s also a great time for a clear out – the archetypal “Spring cleaning” – to make space for new ideas and inspiration. So, sort through that pile of papers on your desk and chuck out the dross! Let go of stalled projects that will never be completed. Nature abhors a vacuum and freeing up space will allow fresh energy and ideas to come in.
This weekend I’m setting aside some time for a declutter of my study. Do join me for the Imbolc clear out.
